Janet Murphy
Optical Advisor and Frame Specialist Extraordinaire
I consider myself very lucky to have been personally involved with one of the most progressive career opportunities in OPTOMETRY.
Vision is so much more than taking a set of frames off the shelf and putting a prescription in the lenses. Each person is unique to their own needs and desires. That is what I enjoyed the most, the people and getting to know so many lovely individuals and having the opportunity to work together to build their vision comfort in a style that so often produces the exciting WOW factor. I enjoyed working with a team of like-minded people who are passionate as well as enthusiastic, and take pride in their work with Optometrists, Frame Designers, and LensLab Managers.
A career that offers so many opportunities allowing you to continually learn and grow.
Prior to arriving here in the Comox Valley, I was front office manager at Harbour Air; and before that my husband and I managed a forty-eight unit motel and prior to that I was with Wardair. Most all were exciting career choices, yet it was starting work for an Optometrist that led to a 24-year span that truly was fulfilling in every way.
I am proud to say that I was a part of an establishment that extended to community work as the Optometrist I was working for offered services not only to the Third World but also on a weekly basis to those in need in our own community.
It was extremely difficult making the choice to retire, as my enthusiasm for people and passion and pride for this industry has never waned.
Nowadays you find me reading (any biography will do); attempting to learn French as my daughter lives in Montreal with her fiance; gardening; as well assisting as a first reader to a soon to be published author.
No one ever said retirement is filled with lazy days, time just flies. and I am loving the fact that I am still able to contribute to a profession I love dearly.
Looking forward to helping YOU make your dreams come true in this engaging career choice! Making the LEAP has never made more sense!
